NFA Covid update

Based on recent guidance, we are asking ALL COACHES to avoid arranging or delivering any coaching sessions until such time as the club can agree a consistent approach to ensure the saftey of all concerned.

Published by the Northumberland FA on Monday June 1st.

The FA has today issued further guidance to all grassroots football and informal football activity outside the professional game following The Government’s relaxation of COVID-19 restrictions from 1 June 2020.

Consistent with Government advice, published on Monday 1 June, the following outdoor football activity is currently permitted:

  • playing football individually e.g. practice of individual skills or fitness activities;
  • playing football with your family or other people living in your household;
  • football training or fitness activities in groups of no more than six, keeping two metres apart at all times. Sharing of equipment should be kept to a minimum and strong hand hygiene practices should be in place before and after. Physical contact with anyone outside of your household is not permitted, therefore, playing of any games (small-sided or full) is also not permitted at this time. Avoid meeting in groups of six in busy or overcrowded areas, if it is so busy that it is not possible to maintain social distancing at all times.
  • Football coaches can now undertake small group sessions up to six people (including the coach) but are reminded to follow The FA safeguarding policy when coaching/working with children. This must include risk assessing the activities, gaining consent from parents/carers and ensuring you are in sight of another adult e.g. parent/carer or another coach and that the ratio of coach to different age-groups of children is appropriate. For clarity, the additional parent/carer or coach is not included as part of the group of six but must remain in sight of the activity.
  • It is permissible for coaches to organise a training session that has two or more groups of six (including the coach) involved as long as the groups of six are kept separate, everyone is socially distancing, and strict hygiene measures are in place with any equipment.
  • Football coaches working with people with impairments must ensure they can adequately cater for any additional needs whilst still avoiding physical contact and maintaining social distancing. Individuals should follow Government guidance relevant to their own impairment or health condition.

Please be reminded, if an individual is symptomatic, living in a household with a possible COVID-19 infection or if you are classified as extremely vulnerable on health grounds, the guidance is that you should remain at home.

The FA continues to work closely with the Department for Digital, Culture, Media & Sport (DCMS) and Sport England in order to provide good practice guidance for those responsible for delivering different aspects of grassroots football and we will share further information as soon as possible.

Supporting the NHS

Laura, Bev and Charlie organised a raffle with gifts donated by friends to raise £400.

The money was to support the RVI, and also say thank you after Bev’s brother recently arrived home after suffering from COVID19.

The generosity was such that a huge £1,280 was raised!

Money was used to buy staff gifts for those working on Ward 48 and £500 was donated to the ITC unit.

Well done to everyone who donated and supported their efforts.

ESF Festivals

ESF 2020 CANCELLED – Please read below the official statement from ESF sent to all club secretaries on 7 April 2020.

It’s with great sadness and disappointment that we have to announce the cancellation of all ESF 2020 youth football festivals.

1,200 teams, 15,000 young ballers, and over 30,000 coaches, family members and supporters were set to join us on tour at ESF 2020 at Butlin’s and Haven. To be unable to deliver our promise of the ultimate weekend of football & fun to you all, is crushing.

There aren’t many things in life that are more important than football, but the health and wellbeing of you all certainly is, by a long shot. The current situation with Coronavirus (COVID-19) is such that, for the first time in 32 years, it simply isn’t possible for an event of the scale of ESF to go ahead.

Rest assured, all families who have an accommodation booking through ESF at Butlin’s and Haven, will receive a full refund, in addition to Team Registration Fees. Details of the refund process have been emailed to your Group Leader. Please note, there is no need to contact Butlin’s or Haven Directly. Although this will be challenging for us as a business, we know this is the right thing to do for our loyal customers at this time.

ESF 2020 was set to be our biggest and best year to date, but that can wait. We’ll be back in 2021 and we very much hope to see you all there. All teams who had booked this year will be given an exclusive period to book for 2021, before registration opens to the general public. We will contact the Group Leaders for all teams booked for ESF 2020, as soon as this exclusive booking period is open.

We will also be extending the age groups offered at ESF 2021, so that all teams who were set to join us this year, will have the opportunity to do so next year. The provisional dates for ESF 2021 are below for your reference.

Update: 09/04/2020

The Northumberland Football League have announced how they will proceeed following discussions with club secretaries and the Northumberland FA.

On Tuesday 7th April 2020 an online SGM vote took place. The SGM vote was to confirm how the five leagues operated by The Northumberland Football Leagues would conclude, after the national FA confirmed all grassroots football had now concluded for the 2019/20 season.

The 2 options put to member clubs were:
1) All results are expunged and the season is null and void;
2) League position, promotion and relegation are resolved via an average ‘points per game’ system.

The league management committee met on Tuesday 7th April to ratify the votes. The outcomes were forwarded to John Topping (Company Secretary Durham FA & Business Manager for Northumberland FA) and Andrew Rose-Cook (Acting CEO of Northumberland FA) to receive ratification and confirmation from the county FAs.

The voting results for each league are as follows:

  • Sunday Mixed League Result – Points per game System
  • Saturday Mixed League Result – Points per game System
  • Girls League Result – Points per game System
  • Womens League Result – Points per game System
  • Participation League Result – Points per game System

All league winners will be notified. Medals will be available to collect from the league office when safe to do so. The result from two divisions (U14 Sunday Premiership & U15 Division 3) will remain outstanding and clubs concerned contacted directly.
