Rocco scores

RoccoDuring the East End Fun Day, a charity match took place between coaches and parents.

The money raised went to help little Rocco.

The picture shows Charlie handing over the cheque to Carla and Gary Lowthian whose son Rocco, developed flat head syndrome.

The condition can be caused by a baby’s sleeping position while its skull is still soft, or in while in the womb. Luckily the condition is treatable.

Carla said: “I know it wasn’t life threatening but from a mothers point of view, you always want your child to be perfect and to be like everyone else.”

They soon found out the star band would set them back around £2,000 but luckily Newcastle East End FC was looking for a cause for its annual charity game.

Gary is a coach here at eastend and Rocco soon benefitted from a whopping £1,910 raised at the game. Now, with nine-month-old Rocco set to shape up for a care-free childhood, Carla has vowed to return the favour from the club.

She said: “It was absolutely fantastic to see how many people got behind the cause. “My husband and dad played in the match.”

Emilia goes to SAFC

Emilia KeavneyNewcastle East End FC are delighted to announce that our Girls Under 14 goal keeper, Emilia Keavney has signed terms at Sunderland Academy.

Emilia is pictured on the right at the centre of excellence signing her contract.

This is yet another success story for NEE and recognition that we are all moving in the right direction and we have the structure, coaching and support in place for players to develop, whether they move on to pro clubs or simply continue to play high level football for years to come.

The committee and all our staff wish Emilia all the very best and hope Emilia and her family enjoy the opportunities and experiences that come their way.

Ex East End lad at NUFC

Jamie HolmesNewcastle East End FC would like to pass on to our members news of Jamie Holmes who signed up for NUFC Academy in 2010/11.

Jamie who is aged 16, proved despite his size, his natural ability and attitude shone through as a forward, the players he looks up to are Neymar and Messi.

This is a testament to not only his hard work and the support of his family, but also the club environment he was nurtured in and that if you practice and train as hard as you can – who knows what opportunities may come your way.

The committee and everyone here at east end wish Jamie all the best for his exciting future.
